Baccarat is a popular game that is sometimes considered complex, but it’s actually very simple. You bet on either the “player” hand winning, on the “banker” hand winning, or on a tie between them. The house edge is among the lowest you can find in casino games.

Face cards and 10s count as 0, aces count as 1. You win when your total is closer to 9. If you go over 9, the first digit is dropped – for example 8 plus 5 is not 13, it’s 3.

After the cards are dealt, you cannot change anything with a strategy. It’s different than in blackjack. A third card might be drawn. If 9 or 8 are initial cards, it’s called “natural” and it ends the game. If a player has 2 and 6, a total of 8, then no third card is dealt and this player wins, unless the banker hand is natural.

In baccarat you play against another player, not against the dealer. Two hands are dealt and the players choose which one they want, which is just like choosing heads or tails when tossing a coin.

It’s more profitable to bet on the banker hand. It includes 5% commission. It’s good to always avoid the tie bet because the house edge is much higher.

In land-based casinos you will find classic baccarat and mini baccarat. The classic version is considered mysterious and discourages new players. The difference between the two games is that mini baccarat is played on a normal table and has the same table maximum and minimum as other table games, and the dealer handles the cards. This version is becoming more popular.

You don’t need any skills or expert knowledge in order to play baccarat and have a lot of fun.
